Mark Jankowski made his Calgary Flames debut last season. It appears he’s making quite a case to at least start the new campaign in the National Hockey League. On Friday, he notched his third goal of the preseason, helping the Flames to a 4-2 victory over the Coyotes.
Calgary Flames goalie Jon Gillies made one of those “through the benefit of replay” saves against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night: Those saves that look good in real time, and then are revealed to be flippin’ extraordinary when fans finally catch the Jumbotron replay.
Is it too early to get seriously hyped about a save during the preseason? Probably. But let’s do it anyway. In Wednesday’s tilt against the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames goalie Jon Gillies went behind-the-back to snag the puck out of mid-air, submitting
Mark Sept. 12, 2017 as a particularly rough day regarding arena news for NHL teams (and cities wanting to add or retain them). First, a seemingly promising Seattle arena announcement either unraveled or was put on hold after Seattle Mayor Ed Murray resigned amid sexual abuse allegations. TSN’s Darren Dreger provided two updates that sound pretty unsettling for the Detroit Red Wings and Calgary Flames when it comes to their respective negotiations with RFAs Andreas Athanasiou and Sam Bennett respectively. It’s intriguing for a […]

Going into last season, the Flames were led by Mark Giordano, T.J. Brodie and Dougie Hamilton. Before the trade deadline, they added Michael Stone from the Arizona Coyotes (they […]
For about a recent 10-year period, the rivalry between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers — known as the Battle of Alberta — had really just become about the past. From 2006 to 2016, the Flames had made the playoffs five times, advancing to the second round only once and the team’s success that season […]
This post is part of Flames Day at PHT…… Talk about perfect timing. The Calgary Flames made some news Monday — on Flames Day at PHT — by signing restricted free agent and depth defenseman Brett Kulak to a one-year, two-way contract. Per the club, the
What’s your favorite bad/good/bad-good joke about the Calgary Flames reportedly handing enforcer Tanner Glass a PTO? From here, there are mainly variations of combining “KO,” “PTO” and “TKO.” For others, a lot of the humor revolves around the low opinion
