The Anaheim Ducks are parting ways with defenseman Simon Despres, whose once-promising career has been curtailed by serious concussion issues. The Ducks placed Despres on waivers Friday. General manager Bob Murray indicated the club will buy out the remainder of his $18.5 million contract.
Kevin Bieksa will not have to waive his NMC, per Sportsnet. The Anaheim Ducks are in a quandary: they have a lot of good defensemen but can’t protect all of them in the expansion draft. One of them they’d like to keep but don’t really want to protect is Kevin Bieksa.
When the Anaheim Ducks brought back Randy Carlyle after firing Bruce Boudreau last summer, the move was met with ridicule. Instead, he enjoyed a largely successful re-debut in 2016-17 that included a Pacific Division title and run to the Western Conference Final, so the Ducks rewarded him on Friday. Now, sports teams are notorious for […]
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Ryan Kesler and Kevin Bieksa both say the Anaheim Ducks' narrow defeat in the Western Conference finals this week was the toughest loss of their hockey careers. LeBrun reported this morning that talks between the Ducks and the 25-year-old defenseman are expected to resume next week. It won’t be cheap to re-sign Fowler, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. With the score ties at 3-3, Sissons ripped home a one-timer from the left circle that was set up by Calle Jarnkrok, three seconds after the Predators killed off a power-play following a delay-of-game call on Roman Josi. "There was a turnover and I got lost on the back side," he said of his tie-breaking […]
Bob Murray managed to keep the Anaheim Ducks together for a shot at the Stanley Cup. If the Ducks decide to protect seven forwards and three defensemen, the blue line will definitely be worth watching. Bieksa, 35, has a no-movement clause, so unless the Ducks find a way to get around that, they’ll need to […]
