One of the major questions facing the Winnipeg Jets this off-season appears to now have an answer. According to reports on Wednesday, both Cheveldayoff and Maurice have been given contract extensions, with Darren Dreger of TSN adding they were multi-year deals. The Jets have yet to make any official confirmation or announcement.
The idea that Shane Doan, who despite playing more than 1,500 games in the NHL never got to 1,000 career points, could even remotely be included in the Hockey Hall of Fame — the big one, not the “Greater Phoenix Hockey Hall of Fame,” which, by all means include him there — is preposterous on […]
This October marks the 22nd anniversary of Shane Doan’s first game in the NHL: Oct. 7, 1995, with the Winnipeg Jets. In a ham-fisted and dishonorable manner, Doan was informed his playing days with the Coyotes were over. “It was the owner’s decision,” said Doan back in June.
After spending more than two decades on the ice, Shane Doan is hanging his skates. In a heartfelt letter to fans published Wednesday in the Arizona Republic, the Coyotes forward announced his retirement from the NHL following a prosperous career that spanned 21 seasons. "I’m so grateful and thankful to the Winnipeg Jets for drafting […]
Former Winnipeg Jets and Arizona Coyotes forward Shane Doan has officially retired from the NHL. Doan broke into the NHL with the Jets during the 1995-96 season, and he stayed with the organization through the move to Arizona. On Wednesday morning, Doan made the announcement official in a letter to the fans via the Arizona […]
Late-August seems to be the time of year when tryout invites go out more often than guaranteed contracts, but a full legit deals continue to trickle through. The New Jersey Devils signed Drew Stafford for cheap, and now the Winnipeg Jets added gritty

The Winnipeg Jets once again missed the playoffs last season, finishing seven points out of a wild card spot in the Western Conference. The Jets have a good, young nucleus of forwards, led by Calder Trophy finalist Patrik Laine, and defensemen, and there should be added pressure on this group to challenge for a playoff […]
The Winnipeg Jets took care of some important business on Monday morning, as they re-signed goalie Connor Hellebuyck to a one-year, $2.25 million contract. The two sides were scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on Aug. 1, but as expected, they were able to hammer out a deal before reaching that point. After being selected […]
The Winnipeg Jets came that much closer to marking every item off of their “to-do list” for the summer. Lipon was the 91st pick of the 2013 NHL Draft. This leaves the Jets with one more RFA to deal with: goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
The Ondrej Pavelec era in Winnipeg is – mercifully – over. Seeing the regularly underwhelming netminder leave for the Rangers isn’t the only reason why the Jets’ goaltending situation looks as promising as it ever has been. With the addition of Steve Mason and the possible ascension of Connor Hellebuyck, this franchise hasn’t enjoyed this […]
BRIGHTON, Mass – The Bruins made offers and held discussions for bigger, better players leading up to the July 1 opening of free agency in the NHL, but at the end of Saturday came away with a pair of depth signings that offer zero risk and little cost. The Bruins signed AHL MVP Kenny Agostino ($875,000) and […]
